TEST SAMPLE SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS

Intended Use                                          

This information sheet contains instructions needed to order supplies, collect animal test samples to be shipped to Antel BioSystems, Inc. (AntelBio) for diagnostic testing. Test sample collection requires preparation. Please read through all sample collection and shipping information before beginning the sample collection process.


 Packaging Samples                                            
  • When using a courier service for shipping; guidelines and requirements for shipping biological specimens will be provided by the courier (shipping regulations 42 CFR Part 72).
  • Keep samples refrigerated until shipping. DO NOT FREEZE SAMPLES unless specifically permitted, see table below. Never thaw and re-freeze frozen samples.
  • Packaging Instructions:
    • Place sample containers into a Styrofoam cooler or any container that can be tightly sealed.
    • Pack absorbent material such as paper towel around fecal and serum samples to soak up the contents in the event of leakage.
    • Place frozen ice packs over fecal, serum and tissue samples for proper cooling during shipping.
    • Sample Submission Form(s) should be placed in a plastic bag that is separate from the samples and then placed into the shipping container.
    • Seal the shipping container with packaging tape.
 Shipping Samples                                           
  • Ship only on Monday or Tuesday to avoid weekend deliveries.
  • Sample collection and shipping kits are available from AntelBio on a per-sample fee basis, which covers all supplies and shipping costs. Call 1.800.631.3510 or email lab@antelbio.com to request a sampling kit. Please specify what type of kit (milk, feces, blood, tissue) and how many sample collection containers you would like shipped to you.
  • If using AntelBio’s shipping system, place the completed FedEx form in the zippered pouch on the outside of the shipping container (enter the date in box 1). Call Federal Express (1.800.463.3339) for package pickup. *Note: Federal Express must be called ahead of time to determine pickup schedule.
  • FedEx will ask for AntelBio's account number. This number is located in BOX 7 on the FedEx form.
    For shipping on your own, call the courier service of your choice and ship to the address listed in the header of this document (ground or standard shipping service is adequate).
  • When shipping from Canada, please include the U.S. Department of Agriculture import permit with shipping documents.

* Thawing frozen milk samples can potentially lead to large amounts of precipitate, which may interfere with ELISA and PCR, resulting in inconclusive results. Properly frozen and stored samples can be used, but submitters should understand resampling may become necessary.
