AntelBio current activities

AntelBio has been out and about this summer teaching, learning, and collaborating at a wide variety of meetings…

• Collaboration with US Department of Agriculture researchers (Beltsville, MD) to evaluate potential for unlocking hidden patterns of Johne’s disease transmission and susceptibility in accumulated ELISA information.
• Participated in long range planning session with CanWest DHI (Guelph, Ontario) on value-added diagnostics for DHI milk samples.
• Collaborated to present posters of research findings on “Characteristics of milk ELISA results for Johne’s disease in US dairy cows” and “Factors affecting milk ELISA scores of cows tested for Johne’s disease” at American Dairy Science Association meetings (Montreal, Quebec).
• Presented testing information at MI Johne’s Demonstration Herd Project wrap-up open house at the Galen Schalk farm (Hillman, MI).
• Hosted Dairy Records Management Systems (DRMS) personnel to more closely integrate milk-based disease testing information with traditional DHI records and began development of producer reports to enhance availability of this information for herds on DHI.
• Sponsored and attended the New Horizons Workshop at the Johne’s Disease Integrated Program (JDIP) and International Colloquium on Paratuberculosis (ICP) joint meetings which featured presentations by many Johne’s experts from around the world, as well as discussion on disease impact, control strategies, and diagnostics.
