Today There’s a Better Way…
to test for BVD

Bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) virus is readily detected in milk of persistently infected (PI) cows. Using state-of-the-art diagnostic techniques, AntelBio makes little work of finding PI cows; and little work translates to big savings when screening herds for BVD.

Consider the cost to screen a 1,000-head dairy:

Screening the milking herd for BVD is a systematic process that uses two diagnostic techniques in combination to identify samples from PI cows without testing each sample individually <find out more>.

In expanding herds, analysis of group or tank samples obtained through DHI testing can be conveniently conducted on a regular basis (e.g. every 4-6 months) to ensure the timely identification and elimination of PI(s) before widespread losses in milk production and reproductive efficiency can occur.

In herds with confirmed cases of PI animal(s), this procedure can be used as a companion to calf testing to quickly complete a herd evaluation from calf to cow. While calf testing can infer test status for their dams, <find out more>, relying exclusively on calf testing would require years to provide a test status for each cow. The screening program described above provides an immediate snapshot of the milking herd.
